    Very strange description!

    I own a Yama. No water vapor can climb up the tube because the tube from the bottom of the upper pot is dipped into the water, preventing the escape of air and vapor. Because of that, pressure builds up in the lower pot and pushes the boiling water up the tube into the upper pot. One part of the coffee maker’s name is either vacuum or siphon and essentially, what those tems mean is that the coffee brew is “sucked” back down into the lower pot. That happens around one minute after the heat source is removed or turned off, the lower pot cools down, the volume of air and vapor in the pot reduces creating a vacuum. The coffee brew is not exactly “sucked” down by the vacuum but pushed down by the stronger ambient air pressure on the surface of the coffee-water mix in the upper pot. That is still simple physics, though.
